TasteFaversham at Maypole with Yen Yo – a celebration of traditional Mandarin and Cantonese food

£22.5Definitely not the average Chinese restaurant dinner – our meal will be a celebration of traditional Mandarin and Cantonese food, prepared home-style by chef and restaurateur Yen Yo (who many of you will know by another name!)
6.00 pm to 6.45 pm – meet in the front bar of the Maypole – you may wish to buy a drink to take upstairs
6.45 pm to 7.00 pm – make your way upstairs to the Dynasty Room
7.00 pm – dinner is served
MENU – a feast of home-style, richly flavoured, traditional dishes
Starters: Cantonese dim sum selection of honey king prawn, spicy chicken; special duck spring roll; fish cake
Mains: crispy sea bass; belly pork cooked with garlic & chives; beef slow-braised with ginger, onion & Chinese spices & served in an oyster sauce; selection of vegetables
After-dinner tea ceremony & tasting with Chinese-style ‘petits fours’, downstairs in the Lotus Room

Some local history … the Maypole name has been re-awakened in its original Market Street location. Many of you may remember Fine Fare & Liptons in Faversham some years ago, as well as Woolworths and Richard Gordon in Market Street … but I wonder if anyone remembers the Maypole Dairy Co.
